Nigerian born alt-R&B singer April Maey has been on a steady rise and her animation for ‘Starry Night’ will keep this motion going. It is a well-done animation that follows a couple sharing intimate moments as they went to return the moon to its rightful place.

“The video is about two young kids who try to save the moon by freezing time and putting the moon back where it belongs, in the sky”.

The utopian feel of the video is reinforced by its purple backdrop, inspired by Jaden Smith’s ‘SYRE’. The narrative portrays the desire for affection and the struggles involved in verifying its authenticity. This animation stands out among the proliferation of visualizers which fall short of a well-rounded animation.

April Maey’s listener base has seen steady growth since the release of her 2020 EP ‘Ticket to Anywhere’. With over half a million streams, and a distinct soothing sound she is surely an artist to keep an eye on.

Philosophy nut. I recommend Albert Camus and Eckhart Tolle to everyone I know.
