South African Music Awards is back for its 25th run with Black Coffee bagging the most nominations.

The 25th edition of the South African Music Awards will be held at the Sun City resort on 31 May and 1 June. On Thursday evening, the country’s best and most influential entertainers and creatives made their way to the nominee event in Alberton, Johannesburg, to find out who was in line to be awarded for their outstanding music. Alex Sekati, the director of the department of arts and culture in the North West province, teased that a bigger budget injection into the event would make this the most magnificent SAMA’s we have ever seen.

Black Coffee stamped his authority on the local music scene when he walked away with an impressive five nods at the events. Pretty impressive because dude spends more time scaling the decks of the most iconic venues in the world than any other urban musician in SA. Other nominations for the SAMA25 include:
