Suté Iwar, has dropped his third single, “STAR PLAYER,” featuring UK rapper kadiata, from his upcoming debut album “ULTRALIGHT,” set to release on April 21 via Outer South. With “STAR PLAYER,” Suté showcases his versatility by blending elements of R&B, Rap, Alté, Afro, Funk, and beyond. His voice sounds as unaffected and assured singing as it does rapping. His first release, “JUDAH LION” featuring WurlD, received support from Dotty on Apple Music, was featured on Spotify’s global R&B Weekly playlist, and secured heavy airplay across Nigeria.
“ULTRALIGHT” is a 15-track album set under the guise of a fictional Netflix documentary about Suté’s life. The album explores space, sound, love, and lust and features a star-studded lineup from West Africa and the UK, including WurlD, Lex Amor, kadiata, Twelve VII, and Suté’s brother Tay Iwar. The album is a half self-care, half immeasurable flex and places Suté in the lineage of Afro-fusion artists that are successfully playing in the UK landscape.
