What To Expect at #EatDrinkFestival 2018

It’s that time of the year again when foodies rejoice and begin planning for one Lagos’ favorite events, #EatDrinkFestival. The 2018 edition, powered by Sterling Bank, will be the festival’s fifth edition and takes place from Wednesday, December 26 through Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the Lekki Coliseum, with an extended format, more vendors and some stellar eats.

A fixture in the December event calendar, the event features lots to eat and drink from an extensive selection served up by some of the best chefs, restaurants, and street food vendors in Lagos. The festival started as a way to showcase local culinary enthusiasts in 2014, and is now organized yearly by Eat.Drink.Lagos.

Festival director Folayemi Agusto, says it’s all about promoting local businesses:

When we started, we wanted to create a platform for food vendors in Lagos without physical locations. There were a number of food vendors from which I ordered lunch to my office daily but many people didn’t know about them. The idea we had, was to give these vendors a platform to meet their customers in person without having to own a storefront – because the cost of one is prohibitive for many of these small businesses

To curate a truly unique experience for festival goers, vendors at the festival are carefully selected by the festival team. This allows the team to ensure that there is something no matter what you are craving, or your dietary restrictions or allergies. Beyond the vendors, the fifth edition will be introducing over a dozen unique events for guests looking for an experience that is more intimate and immersive.

These experiences include lunch and dinner pop-ups by top local and international culinary talent, bar battles, spirit tastings, live demonstrations, cocktail master classes, Sterling VIP lounge and a lot more. The Culinary Main Stage at #EatDrinkFestival will be making a return this year and it will feature a number of exciting live demonstrations and cooking challenges. New this year is the Drinks Theatre which will feature a series of engaging panels, demonstrations on your favorite libations. Naturally, this section of the event is 18+ only. Finally, the festival is introducing a pre-loaded wristband system for guests to use to complete payments for purchases at the festival.

On arrival or online before the event, guests can purchase a wristband and load it up with funds to pay for food and drink. Vendors will scan the guest’s wristband to collect payment. The best part about the wristband is that it helps you set a budget because you can load it with only what you plan to spend and unused funds can be reclaimed when you’re ready to head home.
