Liverpool FC continue to win in 2020, they’ve recently confirmed its new partnership with the biggest sport company in the world. Nike will become the current UEFA Champions League and Club World Cup holders official jersey supplier from the 2020/21 season onwards.
Nike will supply playing, training and travel wear for Liverpool’s men’s, women’s and academy teams and the coaching and Liverpool FC Foundation staff.
According to Business Insider, the deal will reportedly be the most lucrative in the history of English soccer, and would eclipse Manchester United’s $91 million per year agreement with Adidas. The deal would also be the third highest in world soccer, behind only FC Barcelona, which has a $122 million per year agreement with Nike, and Real Madrid, which extended its deal with Adidas earlier this year.
Billy Hogan, Liverpool’s managing director and chief commercial officer, said: “Our iconic kit is a key part of our history and identity. We welcome Nike into the LFC family as our new official kit supplier and expect them to be an incredible partner for the club, both at home and globally as we continue to expand our fanbase. As a brand, Nike reflects our ambitions for growth, and we look forward to working with them to bring fans new and exciting products.”
Nike will be taking over from New Balance, the club’s current jersey sponsor. Liverpool & New Balance have been together since 2015 and will continue until the end of the current season. The New England sportswear company previously tried to block the Nike deal from going through, which ended up in both parties going to court.
