Skepta and Wizkid’s Energy video hit the cyberspace in the early hours of September 6, and we’re absolutely elated. When Energy was released in the early days of summer, it was a massive hit. Skepta had just appeared in Asap Rocky’s new album ‘Testing’ and Wizkid was buzzing with the biggest Nigerian song at that time, ‘Soco’. It only made sense for the two to talk about positive vibes with finesse and dynamism, it was easy to presume the great chemistry and sense of understanding both artists have with each other.
Energy’s video is even what’s more spellbinding, the visuals were directed by Meji Alabi [you should know him by now], it comprises of tenets somewhat like an indigenous version of Childish Gambino’s ‘Feels like summer’ but for a subset of emerging Lagos and London communities, featuring Falana, Lash, Dex, Grace Ladoja, Teezee, Our Motherlan, Bubu Ogisi, Jomi, Soul G, WavyTheCreator, Aduke Bey, D-O, Baingor Joiner, Ashley Okoli and other notable faces. Scenes were taken from the beach at Tarkwa bay, Wafflesncream store , hFactor, Jazzhole and other parts of Lagos, Nigeria, with infused imagery from Santi’s Freaky and Chukwuka Nwobi’s Garden of portraits.
