Singer/Songwriter and composer, April Maey just released “Sweatshirt” along with some bright, wholesome visuals. April Maey’s “Sweatshirt” is a carefree hip-hop-influenced song where April expresses her authentic self. It’s a daring and expressive tune that says, who cares if you wear a sweatshirt when it’s 41 degrees outside, or if you wear sunglasses at a nightclub. Be you and be true to who you are.

“It’s about self-confidence. I feel a lot of pressure when it comes to fashion and the essence of my identity. I’m not the type of person who necessarily “fits in” The point of this song is “it’s okay” you don’t have to wear designer brands or anything. Stay comfortable, and stay YOU. And apart from that, you shouldn’t be pressured to be anybody other than yourself.“

The video begins bright and yellow with April carefreely sipping a milkshake, continuing to show a post-covid get together. April and her friends are dressed in comfortable clothing, sweatshirts, loose-fitting pants and sneakers and hit the lake. The Perrellex-directed music video portrays an easygoing, energetic young woman who is not shy of expressing who she truly is.

“We let go and partied in the streets of Gent. The people there admired our passion and freedom. And that’s what I wanted to show. Have fun and be free, surround yourself by people you love. And more importantly, be comfortable with who you are because at the end of the day, you’re the only one who has to deal with yourself and your life. If you aren’t comfortable, then what’s the point of it all.”
