Amaarae has been keeping us entertained all pandemic from her frequent Instagram lives, to the frequent eye-watering visuals and releases off of her coming debut LP, The Angel You Don’t Know. It’s almost like the Ghanaian singer has undergone some creative epiphanies because all her recent work has been unbridled next level shit.
The Fancy video is colourful from the opening scene with the blue Bentley and the shipping containers to the elements of internet art in the cam girls scene. Amaarae put a pan-African twist on a BDSM gimp suit by embellishing it with cowries. The Vote Igor poster was a nice touch and a nod to Tylerthecreator. Amaarae has exhibited her love for everything neon & freaky in her past videos for Like It and Leave me Alone.
Amaarae isn’t your regular artist, if you have been watching her growth very closely, you’ll know that she’s always had the secret sauce. It’s nothing near outlandish to say she is the most exciting talent coming out of Ghana right now. She remains a leading light for the new age African woman.
